Hello, October!

via here
Can you believe it's the first of October today? Yay! We love October in our house. It means that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and Halloween won't be far behind. We're going to bake pumpkin pies, and decorate the house with tissue paper ghosts, paper bats and grinning jack o'lanterns. You can feel the excitement in the cool autumn air!

I'll be kicking off the month with a weekend full of fun. The boys are off to my auntie Pat's tonight for a sleepover while Alan and I head out for dinner with friends and then to Amanda's for her birthday party (which reminds me, really must get that cheese ball made...) Tomorrow we're hoping to sleep in, then spend the day in the garden soaking up the October sun. It's supposed to be 21 degrees celsius this weekend, and we mean to enjoy it while it lasts! Auntie Pat will bring the boys home in the afternoon, and we've promised them a walk to Starbucks for a festive drink. Sunday is the Run for the Cure, so I'll be up at the university bright and early, all decked out in pink and running 5K to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Society. And I'll be feeling grateful for Em's good health every step of the way! So, there you have it. An exciting weekend of family, friends and fun in the sun. I don't think I could ask for a nicer way to start off one of my favourite months of the year!

What are you doing this weekend? And will there be pumpkin spice lattes involved?

  6. Um, YES there will be pumpkin spice lattes! :) I have a work conference tomorrow, so a latte is needed to deal with that disappointment tomorrow morning...

Sounds like your weekend is packed...much luck on your 5k!

P.S. I am sooo in love with the J.Crew shoes. I have such boaty, enormous feet, but I feel like these are cute enough to mask it... :)

  8. This weekend, I plan to:

    - take a big long bike-ride in the autumn sunshine
    - make up a huge batch of roasted veggies that we can eat throughout the week (in omelettes, with pasta, on top of couscous with feta cheese...)
    - sleep in (need to bank those hours before the alarm goes off at some ungodly hour Monday morning!)
    - not worry too much about lesson-planning

    and...
    - cheer you on from afar on Sunday!
