Saturday morning daydream

A sunny Saturday morning in Paris? Pain au chocolat and a steaming hot latte right there on that bench? Oui, merci.

Dreary Sunday daydream

It's been windy and rainy for days now. I'm tired of it. Tired of the damp and the cold and the way my hair goes all frizzy when it gets wet. I'm ready for summer, and hours spent lounging on the deck in the sun, with a good book and a cold beverage. Come on, July!

Saturday morning daydream

You know what I would love to be doing this weekend? Spending a few days in New York City with girlfriends, shopping, eating, strolling the Upper West Side... I think that would be pretty much perfect.

You?

Saturday morning daydream

A sunny window seat on a bright winter morning, a cup of tea and a good book {or stack of stationery} and I'd be happy as pie.

Bringing back a favourite

That's right! It's the Saturday morning daydream, returning as a regular feature here on my poor, neglected little blog. Hurrah! I love to dream. This morning, I'm imagining a cozy, beautiful, fireside tea party with a few of my dearest friends. While a blizzard blankets the world in white. How lovely does that sound?

Do you have a dream this first Saturday morning of January?

PS: Christmas/New Year photos coming soon, I promise.

Planning the ornament swap and beginning to dream of Christmas and snowy days. Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? And, have you joined the swap yet?!

Saturday morning daydream

via here

I've read a lot of books this summer. Easy, beachy kind of books. The kind where the best friends/sisters/mother & daughters pack up and head to Nantucket for the summer to rediscover themselves/reconnect/forgive and forget/move on with their lives. Of course they stay in a fabulous house on the beach while all this is happening. No wonder then, that my Saturday morning daydream this week is to be relaxing in a deck chair at my beautiful beach house on Nantucket... {and not changing the beds, doing the laundry and heading out to get groceries, which is my Saturday morning reality}

Happy Saturday, friends! Enjoy this very last day of August.

Saturday morning daydream

Me last week, sipping and reading and loving the summertime

We're home. Had such a lovely long week of reading and swimming and relaxing in the sunshine at Sorrento, followed by three fun days with friends in Forest Grove {followed by an epic all-day drive of over 500 km with a sick kid in the back}. Daydreaming now about stepping back in time just a wee bit and reliving all that glorious free time... And then I'd really better get a load of laundry hung up and the walls in the bathroom scrubbed so we can paint them.

Happy August, friends! I'll be back soon, with oodles of photos. Until then, won't you tell me what you've been up to?

Saturday morning daydream

Have I mentioned we're in the middle of a major bathroom renovation project over here? That's right. Major. It's going to take a lot of vision to change that room from the current disaster it's in to the spa-like haven I'm imagining.

We've ripped out the floor and the drywall, taken a saw to the countertop, and smashed out all the tiles around the tub {Dylan loved that bit! He wore his shoes and swim goggles into the tub, and stood there pouding holes in the tile with a hammer}. We've pulled out all the nasty 45-year-old insulation, and filled the walls with nice new stuff. Next we need to pull out the hideous 1960s-era mustard yellow tub, toilet and sink. And then the process of drywalling, sanding, painting, flooring, plumbing and all the rest begins. In the end, I'm hoping our bathroom looks something like the beautiful one above. It will have a big white tub, a lovely pedestal sink, white wainscotting, and gorgeous flooring reminiscent of a beach house on Nantucket. I can't wait to soak in my tub with a summery novel, and enjoy every relaxing second.

This daydream won't come true without a lot of dedication and hard work, so I'd better get back to it. Wish us a speedy DIY project, won't you please?

Happy Saturday! And Happy First Day of June! Summer's so close, I can almost taste it.

A cup of tea, a bagel, some fresh air, a comfy chair, and nature right there at my fingertips? Yes, please.

Saturday morning daydream

It's a bright, frosty morning here in Victoria. I've got some housework to do, some groceries to pick up, some report cards to write, a birthday party to attend with the boys. The usual Saturday kind of stuff. You know what I'd like to be doing instead? Spending the day in a big city somewhere {London maybe?} and getting started on my Christmas shopping. Strolling the city streets, peering in shop windows, popping into any place that catches my eye {like that beautiful bookshop above}. Laden with shopping bags, I'd take breaks at cozy little cafés, warming up with a cup of tea and a pastry, before heading out again.

Shall we meet at the end of a successful shopping day for a glass of wine, and to compare our purchases?

Saturday morning daydream

Oh boy, has it been a crazy week. The kids {my own, and my students} have been wild with the anticipation and excitement of Halloween and I have been up to my eyeballs in interim report writing, lesson planning, story reading and pumpkin carving. I spent most of my day off yesterday at a literacy team meeting and I just. need. a. break! Alas, it's not really meant to be. I have a lot of paperwork, vacuuming, dusting and laundry to catch up on, a Beavers' dinner and craft night to help out with, and several dozen gingerbread skeletons to whip up. It's going to be a busy Saturday. Not the one I'm daydreaming of. It looks a bit more like this:  Me on the couch in front of the fire all day, relaxing and reading to my heart's content. And did I mention the living room would be spotless, all the housework would be done, and someone would bring me tea and snacks at regular intervals? No? Well, it's my daydream, so you can bet that's exactly how it would be. How about you? What are you daydreaming about this Saturday morning?

Saturday morning daydream {lake house}

It would be lovely to spend the last week of summer holidays in a spot like this, wouldn't it? Reading in that big bay window, having lunch by the shore, swimming in a lake warmed by the sun, staying up late to drink wine and look at the stars.

One day... And in the meantime, it's so nice to have daydreams.

Saturday morning daydream {covered porch}

I want to sit on this porch in the shade all day, sipping lemonade and reading a good book and writing letters. You can join me if you bring some summery snacks...

Saturday morning daydream {adirondacks}

What I really need right now is some place to get away from it all. Blue water, blue sky, the warm sun, a deck chair and a cup of tea? Mmm-hmm. That might do the trick.

Do you wish you could escape from real life for a bit, too? Go ahead... Pull up a seat.

Saturday morning daydream {Montana}

Oh, to escape to a place like this... Doesn't it look divine? It's The Lake House, in Stone Creek Camp, Montana. If I start driving now, I could probably be there sometime tomorrow.
