MoMA and Midtown Manhattan

Ready for part two of day one in New York City? {forgive the crazy amount of photos... I simply couldn't help myself}. Here goes:

MoMA was on our must-do list. Here's why...

Van Gogh's Starry Night. Swoon.

 Look at me. So happy! It's the Starry Night! Right behind me!

 Monet's Waterlilies. So, so beautiful. And I had no idea there were some of these masterpieces at MoMA. When I walked into the Waterlilies room, I almost burst into tears.

Andy Warhol's Double Elvis {this one's for you, Micaela!}

Rockefeller Center

The only thing missing was the famous Christmas tree!

 Eek! The Flatiron Building! Love it.

 The Empire State Building

The Chrysler Building

Our first day in NYC was a long and busy one, full of so many exciting places. We spent the entire morning and early afternoon touring around midtown, wandering MoMA, eating pizza and pretzels from street vendors and just soaking it all in. Later in the day, we headed back towards Uptown {we were staying at The Lucerne, on the Upper West Side} for a stroll through Central Park, a visit to the Strawberry Fields Memorial, and an ice cream cone. Oh, and then we went back to the hotel to get ready for our night out to see Chicago on Broadway! Sigh. I loved day one. Days two through five weren't bad either...

  1. I feel anxious and excited, as if I'm about to go there myself! Thanks for giving me the trip jitters. :) It's fun to feel like I'm touring a place even if I'm not actually there!

    It is COOL that you were able to see all those famous paintings! I had no idea that they were in the U.S. Hah.

  5. Sounds like an a-mazing first day! I love the way you describe even the simple things you did - eating street vendor food or getting ready at the hotel - they make up some of the best memories from a trip.
