Scenes from the weekend

The last weekend of summer vacation did not disappoint. We spent loads of time downtown in the sun. Rode the ferry, ate fish & chips, did somersaults on the Empress lawn, licked ice cream cones. We picked blackberries until our hands turned purple, rode bikes, lazed about in the garden. Stayed up late watching Doctor Who, chatted long distance with old friends, slept in. Built forts and had picnics inside them. Did laundry {lots of clean clothes, ready to be worn to school}, chopped wood {getting ready for winter}, baked blackberry crumble. Watched the sun set. Admired the moon {Dylan said, "It looks like a storybook moon, doesn't it?"}. It was a lovely start to September.

All blissed out on the Harbour Ferry

Aargh! Pirates!

Lunch at Fisherman's Wharf {yum!}

I'd like to have one of those

But we'll settle for a return trip on the harbour ferry

Blackberry crumble!

I'm glad there's still one day left before school starts. Hoping to find the perfect balance between doing nothing, and getting things done.

What are you up to today? If you're here in North America, Happy Labour Day! And if you're somewhere else, then happy Monday to you. Hope it's just the way you want it to be,

E xo

  3. Your boys are the cutest. I can't believe you managed to do so much in a single weekend! I'm impressed. I really hope one day you find a way to turn this blog into a book for your boys -- I think they'd love to read it, look back and remember all of these wonderful times.

  6. Cass- if it's summer, I will ALWAYS have sunglasses on my head. Unless maybe I'm asleep. Then I'll take them off!

    Brandi- awesome idea! Thanks for the link you sent. Am looking into it...

  7. Started back at school today and because Jacob doesn't start til tomorrow he had to come in and endure 4 awfully boring meetings. He was a superstar though so very proud ( apart from when he ran down the corridor to the canteen at lunchtime shouting 'hey everyone free food') soooo embarrassing!!!!!

    Enjoy your 1st day back

  9. Erin, way to pack in every last bit of summer you possibly could! You go, girl! :)

    Those french fries are leaving me craving. Mmm. And I swear that the Empress Hotel is the most magical place on earth. I know I say that every time, but it looks pretty fantastic! :)

    I'm with you on sunglasses--mine are always on my head. Even when I'm inside. That's summer for you!!

    Hope you enjoy your last 1.5 days of summer! :)
