Hello, August

via here

I can't believe you're here already! July flew by. I hope you'll be slower, and last a good long while. I'm not ready to begin thinking about the fall or buying school supplies just yet.

No... I'm looking forward to more mornings of sleeping in. To long, lazy days spent at the beach. To splashing in the waves, and building castles in the sand. To more picnics on the grass, and dinners cooked on the barbeque. To weather so warm that we'll play in the sprinkler after dinner, and sleep with the windows open all night.

It will be fun to have old friends come to stay, and to meet up with new ones. To eat fresh picked peaches, juicy and ripe. To shuck many a cob of corn. To sit up late by the campfire, roasting marshmallows and reminiscing about summers past. To make the most of this summer, right now.

Welcome, August. It's good to have you back.

  5. What are the odds we're both into peaches? Hah!

This whole summer has been flying by. I'm glad that I finally don't have class so I can read and cook.

I'm not ready to think about school supplies but I do like the fall. Perfect weather, scarves, hayrides, apple picking.... I like every season but winter so I'm happy with whatever comes our way most of the time.

Campfires and marshmallows sound really good right now!

  6. You know what I do plan on engaging in every single day this month? Standing over my sink with peach juice dribbling down my chin. SO good.

I have to admit, I'm sort of ready for all of the wonders of Fall... but I'm definitely not ready for summer to be over with. August, please take your time!

  9. Yes! You definitely need to enjoy your summer as long as you can, Erin. These days slip by so quickly. Have you been back to any farmer's markets in the area at all?
