On my mind

via here

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

  2. Couldn't be more true... my husband and I were just talking about it last night... we aren't even a tiny bit better if we celebrate now.

  5. Yes.

When I woke up the morning after my facebook was flooded with statuses about him.

I understand the symbolism for people but I don't think his death must be celebrated. We should move forward as a whole and keep working to fix the situation we are in.

  7. yes! this is fantastic, and exactly how i've been feeling lately. i logged off twitter early that night and have been avoiding all news reports. it's just awful to celebrate with such joy the death of a human being, a human being who may have truly believed he was working for god who may have had a mental illness. we don't know the journey that leads people to commit horrible acts, but there's always a more complicated story behind it, whether it's an evil dictator or the gang kid on your street.

  9. there's discrepancy (i've been reading) about who actually said this, but it doesn't matter, the sentiment stands--and it might be one of the most beautiful thoughts i've ever come across.

  10. I read this sentiment earlier today on facebook and I totally agree. I was and am still glad to find out that I'm not the only one who feels this way.
