Flowers for your Friday

How gorgeous are these blooms? I'm definitely feeling the urge to buy myself a big bundle of flowers on the way home from work, to brighten up my kitchen and lift me out of the January blahs...  There's just something about fresh flowers, isn't there?

I'm writing this on Thursday evening, because I've learned {after teaching grade 1 every Friday for the past four months} that there simply aren't enough hours in the day on Friday. I don't think I ever sit down at my desk, not once, the whole day long! Which is fine. It's good for me, keeps me on my toes... And makes me appreciate the weekend that much more, too.

So anyway, it's Thursday night, and I'm sitting on the bathroom floor as the boys splash about in the tub. I am not yet at the point where I feel like they can be left alone in a big tub of water {will I ever be there, I wonder?}, so I like to find other things to do while they soak the grime away. Sometimes I clean the toilet and the sink, sometimes I write letters or read a book, and occasionally, I blog. Yep. Blogging on the bathroom floor- oh, the glamourous life I lead!

So, plans for Friday with my first graders: singing Raffi songs, enjoying Mo Willems' pigeon books, printing fun with speech bubbles, rainy day splatter painting {really, Erin? do you really want to go there?}, a visit to the library to choose new books, and adding on to 10. It's gonna be busy. I've got a giant pot of chicken and vegetable soup made, so I'll doze in the staffroom at lunch and eat copious amounts of it while I battle off the winter cold that's stalking me. And when I get home from work, I'm sure Alan will have made me a pot of tea, and a delicious dinner will be cooking in the oven. Ooh, and maybe I'll take a nap while I wait for it to be ready, and the cleaning lady scrubs the floors... {drifting off into dreamland here, can you tell?}

Uh-oh. Back to reality here in the bathroom.There's water all over the floor and these kids are seriously prune-y! I'd better get them out of the bath and into bed now. And then I might get into my pajamas myself. An evening on the couch, with a blanket and some herbal tea sounds just about right. I need to save my energy for Friday, after all.

Have a good one.

  3. Your days always sound so fantastic, Erin! I used to love those long baths when I was little. And the flowers are beautiful -- my roommate brought home two bouquets of roses yesterday just to brighten the apartment and they're definitely helping. Have a lovely weekend, my dear!
