It's Christmastime in the city

Sawyer and I took a quick trip downtown yesterday morning. It was early, and the shops were just opening. We had a lovely time, and enjoyed the Christmas decorations {Victoria is always pretty, but I think it looks especially nice this time of year...}

I love this building. It used to be a Christmas store, actually! Now it's a fancy pub.

Beautiful old building... another pub!

We met Jess for a quick cup of tea at Murchie's.

And then we headed next door to Munro's Books. It is sooo beautiful!

Sawyer was having a great time looking in all the shop windows.

Em! I must get this paper to wrap your present in next year, non?

We spent a bit of time hanging out in the children's books section. Of course.

We checked out Rogers Chocolates for stocking stuffers.

And admired the much-coveted Olympic mittens at The Bay {so much easier to come by now than they were back in February!}

My adorable little elf.

Today is less enjoyable. Things are crazy around here. I'm exhausted. Sawyer might have chicken pox {though it's looking positive that it's just an allergic reaction to his ear infection meds... I sure hope that's all it is because I might have a nervous breakdown otherwise}, the house is awash in drywall dust, I found a stack of Christmas cards I thought I'd mailed but obviously hadn't {oops!}, it's freezing cold in here and I can't find the axe to chop any kindling. Sigh. Really not my day... Perhaps tomorrow will be better?

  4. Those days are tough to get through . . . but there is always tomorrow. :) And Sawyer looks cute in his Santa hat, so there's that too. I'm jealous of these fancy pubs and want to transport myself to one, right now! Hope things get better for you very soon . . . and that Sawyer doesn't have the chicken pox!

  10. Cheer up, my dear. Tomorrow will definitely be better. Wish I could have visited that bookstore with you two -- it looks so sweet, as does the rest of Victoria.

  11. Those shops look beautiful and from the peek inside the window inside is just as gorgeous.

    Couldn't help but think of this:
    "The sun'll come out
    Tomorrow
    So ya gotta hang on
    'Til tomorrow
    Come what may
    Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
    I love ya Tomorrow!
    You're always
    A day
    A way! "

    But of course sung by the little girl in our favourite film!!
    xx
