An important date in Harry Potter history

Did you know? Today is the anniversary of the final battle, the one that ended it all. May 2nd, the battle of Hogwarts. Tragic, epic, glorious! I'm starting to think it's time to go back to the beginning. If I start Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone now, I should be able to work my way up to the Deathly Hallows by the time the movie comes out in November, don't you think? Thank goodness for the films, otherwise I'd be going through some serious HP withdrawal by now. Can you believe it's been almost three years since the final book was released (that midnight release party with my three-week-old baby was pretty fab!) The new movie is going to be broken into two parts, so hopefully they'll leave nothing out. I just can't wait!

You have read them all, haven't you?

  1. hahaha, no actually, i have read zilch. i tried reading the sixth one, but got really bored about ten chapters in. trust me, i am SO not trying to hurt anyone here, about 95% of my friends love the HP series too, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. maybe in the coming years i'll start from the beginning and see how i like it. :] but the films? oh my goodness, love them to death. and because i have so many friends who read them, i know what's left out or added in, so on and so forth. a lot of my friends were dissapointed with the half blood prince adaptation. i didn't care for it too much either; the order of the pheonix is still my favorite. all of the films really are so beautiful and lovely and true, it's hard, for me, to remember they're these huge blockbuster movies. the fact that he was saved by his mothers love? oh my, so tragic and beautiful. it's just a really neat and awesomely imagined story and so beautifully adapted. <3 <3

  2. Of course I've read them all!!! And the first four twice, because I read them so long before picking up the fifth one (college got in the way of that!). I went to The Prisoner of Azkaban (way back when I was 13!) and loved it... so cool to have gone to the Deathly Hallows party!!

  3. Have I read them??!! I'm reading them again now! In anticipation for the next movie. I've read the books countless times now and love them every time.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next film and because they have it in two parts I'm sure they won't take things out.

  4. Of course I have read every single last word, at least twice now I think. I hope they make this last film amazing because I am not so sure about a couple of the films so far. But the books always win over the films for me.

  5. I hardly dare to tell you that I haven't read them, and that I only have seen parts of the first movie... sorry to say they never caught on. Maybe someday I'll try to read them.

  6. i've actually never read any of the books or watched any of the movies. i was pretty busy in my college life back when they first got popular and then it felt like i was so far behind, it was useless to start getting into them. i've heard lots of great things though.

and eeek! thanks for your congrats! i know, it's so hard to focus now on anything!

  7. oh, no, I'm sorry to say I haven't read any! (don't hate me! haha)

BUT, I have seen all the movies. does that count for something? see, my best friend has loved Harry Potter since before everyone else in the world loved Harry Potter. and when the movies first started coming out, all my friends went to see them, me included, usually at crazy midnight showings.

so while I haven't read any of the books, I do still enjoy Harry Potter! so we can still be friends, right? :)
