Last Sunday was my little brother's 30th birthday (which means I'm really old, doesn't it? sigh...) We had a party for him in the woods. My family likes to do outdoor celebrations in the winter for some reason... We like to stand around, freezing, huddled about the fire with wieners on sticks. It's fun for us. No, seriously. It is! We roast marshmallows, too. And burn our tongues on hot chocolate in travel mugs. And then we eat cake.
Enjoying the river a lot more than we did last time we were here for a family birthday. No dead salmon stinking the place up!
I totally missed what the writing said on that cake! She's hilarious! And I concur... we do love a good get together in the woods mid winter, don't we? Good thing we don't live anywhere else in Canada. Nothing beats standing around a smoky fire, roasting weinies, with semi-frozen hands. (Except maybe a holiday ham.)

Nothing beats a holiday ham. We should bring one to our next outdoor winter family get-together...
ReplyDeleteCake making seems to be a family skill set! Wow! Really showing our age if we are the original A-team fans! hee hee
