I took my class on a field trip to the museum yesterday. On the bus ride back to school, I was chatting with a parent helper about our next outing- a skating field trip in the first week of December. One little girl overheard us. She leaned in close and said, "Mrs Pugh! I have never,
ever been skating!" I acted surprised and said, "You're kidding me! Well, I'm sure you're going to love it once you give it a try." "I know I will,"she replied. "It is
my dream to learn how to skate. And now, you are going to make my dream come true!"
I
love teaching Grade One.
Oh my gosh, I've not skated in so so long (15 years +)! I'd forgotten how fun it was until I read this. I should go soon - Edinburgh always has an outdoor skating rink in winter - perhaps this will be the year!!

ReplyDeleteI know the feeling! As soon as I set foot in the schoolyard, all my first-graders come to hug me. I can't say the same thing for my older students, though!
