Downton Abbey

I know, I know. I'm a little late to the party. But I have now finished the first season of Downton Abbey and I have to say I'm in love. I adore everything about it. The Yorkshire setting {swoon!}, the gorgeous period costumes, the historical references {like the sinking of the Titanic in episode 1}, the Crawley family {especially Mary, who is marvellously bitchy} and all of their servants downstairs {I love to hate Thomas and Mrs. O'Brien!}, the beautiful Abbey, and all that drama over the heir. And of course, I adore Lady Grantham. Maggie Smith can do no wrong, as far as I'm concerned.

The good thing about starting a show a few seasons in is that there's no waiting around each week for a new episode. I can just dive right in. So now that I've finished season 1, it's time for season 2. I can't wait to see how the First World War impacts everyone at Downton {hope none of my favourites gets killed off}. I think I'll climb into bed and watch it right now!

Tell me. Are you a fan? What- or who- do you love best about the show? {no spoilers, please! remember I'm only just beginning the second season...}

  2. I adore Downtown Abbey, even though it makes me cry hysterically each time. I watch it with a box of Kleenex at my side. Isn't Matthew Crawley almost as wonderful as Mr. Darcy? Maggie Smith is sublime. Love,

  3. I have been watching Downton Abbey since the first episode first came out. It's amazing. The costumes, the setting, the characters. I guess I don't want to go anyway away so I will wait until you have at least seen season 2 before I will say anything :) Then I will write my thoughts in a letter.

  4. Glad you're catching up with the show! I was late to the party, too, and loved getting to watch everything without the wait.
