Scenes from the weekend {high school reunion edition}

Saturday was my high school reunion and I have to say... I honestly loved every second. From our girls' afternoon at the beach, to Kelly's arrival at my house, to an evening spent catching up and reminiscing with so many old friends, to a hug from my high school crush {yes!}, it was pretty much perfect. We laughed a lot, drank quite a bit, looked through old yearbooks, filled each other in on the events of the past twenty years and wished that the ones who were missing could have been there. I was a little bit worried ahead of time that I might feel self-conscious or spend too much time comparing myself/my life/my accomplishments to that of others' {yep, I have been known to do that before}, but that wasn't the case at all. I just felt happy to be there, happy to have been a part of something so special as reuniting with the people I grew up with and remembering all the fun we'd had. And then coming home to my cozy house and the lovely little family I've grown in the time between high school and now. It felt great. Now, want to see some photos? I thought so!

Kate, Shirley, Leigh & me {Shirley and I went to school together from kindergarten all the way up to grad}

Melana, who hasn't aged a day

Kelly & I with our '91/'92 yearbooks

Emrys, Josh, me {I've known these two since the 8th grade}

With Colin, who was pretty drunk by this point

Leigh and I met up again as preschool moms, so it's only been a couple of months since we've seen each other

Lyle and I had a bit of a thing on grad night... We had a good laugh and finally got over the awkwardness of it, twenty years later

So glad I went. And I would totally recommend to anyone who's waffling about whether or not to attend their high school reunion to do it! It'll be another ten years at least before you get the chance again...

Happy Monday, mes amies. The last one in August. Can you believe it?

  1. I adore this post!! I loved getting to look at your photos from high school and let me tell you...you haven't aged a bit!! I'm glad you had such a great time. My reunion is this November and I really wish Micaela would be able to go because then I might consider. But without her by my side I don't think I'll be quite brave enough! But you may just have convinced me to go through with it ;) BTW Lyle is good looking, I can only imagine what he was like in high school! haha :)

  3. So fun! My 10 year is not too far off, although I can't say I'm all that excited. It will certainly be nice to catch up with old friends, but with the advent of facebook and other social media, it seems like we all know everything anyway. Alas, still not sure how I feel about that.
