First grader

Tuesday: Grade 1, day one.

Dylan was  really excited about his very first day at his new school.

Couldn't stop grinning...

He was completely thrilled that Alan and I were both there to take him to his first day, and that it was Daddy picking him up afterwards. They rode the bus home, after stopping for chocolate croissants {he is in French immersion now, after all!} Turns out he already knew "three of the French songs that we sang, because I went to French camp in the summer!"  All in all, a most exciting day.

Outside the front door, itching to get inside and get started!

Wednesday: A full day of Grade 1, with an "actual real lunch hour and everything." It was also the first session of after-school soccer, which he loved. Apparently he got 14 goals. I'm impressed!

Today: There will be gym time, and brand new inside shoes will be worn. The excitement mounts! And... they might just find out who their teacher is and get settled into their new classroom. If not today, then tomorrow. He is so looking forward to that!

It's been a very big week, for a very lovely little boy.

  1. Oh I have a tear in my eye after your last sentence Erin! Can I blame it on the hormones? What a grown up little chap he is now, so pleased to hear he has been enjoying his first few days at his new school.

  3. What a corker of a smile!
My son loves looking back at all the photos of his first year of school and is amazed that he has grown such a lot in such a short space of time (yr4 now).

Enjoy the rest of the week

  4. YAY! First grade. :) New shoes? I'm a little jealous.

I've said it before but I love that he's in french immersion. That's such a great idea!

Hope today goes just as well for both you and him!

  5. First grade is the best. I love that he is in French immersion. I wish we did neat things like that in the States. Is that just learning the language, or learning the culture as well?

I must say, I'm really impressed that you are still cranking out the daily posts even though you are a full-time teacher -- how do you do it!?
