Soaking up summer

There are twelve days left of summer vacation, and we intend to make the most of them. Yesterday we rode bikes {check out Dylan's new bike and helmet! doesn't he look all grown up?}, picked blackberries {I foresee a pie in our future!}, and wandered around downtown in the sun. We checked out the Emily Carr exhibit at the museum, had ice cream as we walked along Government Street, and admired the boats in the harbour. Then we came home and ate freezies.

I've got a lot of things I'd still like to do before we are thrown headlong back into work and school and weekday routines. Things like sleeping in, going for picnics and playdates, strolling the farmers' markets and sitting on the lakeshore. And going to the beach, of course. Today we're driving up to Parksville where we're going to hang out on the beach, all day long. It's going to be fantastic.

* Oh, and speaking of fantastic, it's my friend Kim's birthday today! Won't you swing by her blog and wish her a very merry birthday? A girl only turns 29 once, after all... so the more birthday wishes, the better! Happy Birthday, Kim! I hope your day is as awesome as you are. xo

  4. See, now those are blackberries! My peach picking the other day turned into blackberry picking because there were no peaches to be had (broke my heart).

And Dylan looks awesome on his new bike! I can't believe it was just at the beginning of the summer that I was there and he began riding without training wheels.
