I am seriously loving these August weekends. They have been sunny and hot and so good for the soul. Being outside, breathing the fresh air, watching the kids play, eating peas and berries straight from the garden, the smell of lavender when the wind blows, the extra time to stay up late with Alan, watching Torchwood and eating takeaway... they all make for wonderful weekends. Thank goodness there's still one left before September.
A bench, a good book and a cold drink
Candy tuft in our garden
Sun shining through sunflowers
Blooms and blue sky
Playing in the sprinkler & washing the van at the same time
Relaxing with Lego
The view from the boys' bedroom window
Some of this winter's firewood
Gladiolas
Sharing Slurpees. Mmmm!
I didn't become a teacher just so I could have the summers off, but I've got to say... it's a pretty nice perk! And I will absolutely be making the most of these last fifteen days of vacation {yes, I am counting, and making each one count}.
Have you had time off lately to run in the sprinkler, soak up the sun and just be? I hope so. Because truly... there's nothing like it.

your photos have just made my Monday morning so much better Erin, especially the first one and the lego :)
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, especially the first one, he knows how to enjoy life:)
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo of you all sharing slurpees! That's something I would think about framing just because it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteActually, beyond the beach I've had plenty of time to get outside but I just don't. :( I'm kind of bummed. Our apartment doesn't have an outdoor space of it's own (beyond a little lawn that the entire building shares) so anything simple is out. We do have a park across the street and I've walked it some but it's not as fun without friends to go with you. Hopefully since people are coming back to college for their fall semester I can catch up on my outdoor time like you say!
Glad you had a good weekend Erin, hope it continues!
aw running through the sprinklers was one of my favorites things when i was a little girl. when i got older it became playing in the hot summer rains. now i live in LA where there's no rain at all and a ration on water. but i guess there's always the freezing cold ocean just a few miles away. :) it looks like you and your cute family are making such sweet memories this summer.
ReplyDeleteps - i'm so glad you saw my little message to you. i thought of you right away of course when i saw that. hubba hubba. :)
The sprinkler? The Slurpees? I could do with a hearty dose of both. C'est très chaud ici!
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks gorgeous!
looks like you are certainly making the most of summer- I just returned from Toronto/ Halifax trip and got your book- Thank you! I've added it to my reading pile.
ReplyDeleteDon't think I have ever run through a sprinkler in my life you know! Had better rectify that once this little one is born hadn't I!
ReplyDeleteSawyer takes after his Mum in the first photo with a lovely drink from Starbucks and a good book to delve into - adorable!
xx
how great are these photos! so beautiful and sweet. they really capture the essence of summer. ahh, to be a child again! now I want to lay around, build a Lego house and drink Slurpees :) I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer vacation!
ReplyDeleteaww, seriously so precious - they're so cute!! don't you just love relaxing summer weekends?? i'm not ready for summer to end!
ReplyDeleteI would kill for a slurpee right about now, yum!
ReplyDeletehooray for summers!

Sawyer is so his mother's son :) That first picture has you all over it - I love the Starbucks drink beside him :) Such an adorable pic! I can't' believe how beautiful your garden is! It's been such a hot, dry summer here that all the grass is brown and sad :( I love that photo of you all sharing your slurpee - too precious! Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation Erin! I will always regret not becoming a teacher simply for the wonderful vacation time (Christmas, Spring Break and Summer - I miss that so much as a student!)
ReplyDeleteBeing a teacher too I'm off for the summer and making the most of it (even though the weather is not the greatest).
ReplyDeleteAm trying not to count he days down as I get butterflies thinking of all the work I'm supposed to be doing!
