Scenes from the weekend

I had a really nice weekend. It involved sleeping in {well, as much as 8 a.m. is sleeping in! it's as good as it gets around here}, sipping lattes, building castles, reading books {stay tuned for two book reviews later this week), attending a preschooler's birthday party, and enjoying a fabulous evening of eating, drinking and visiting with a lovely group of friends. We were so busy having fun celebrating my birthday that I forgot to take a single photo until after everyone had gone home! It was a great party.

I made these super-delicious cream cheese tarts for dessert {they were in addition to the profiteroles and bowls of Cadbury mini-eggs}. We ate them after snacking on bread and cheese {brie with tomato and basil,  & goat cheese rolled in cranberries}, veggies and dips, popcorn and chips.

Plenty of wine to choose from, as well as diet Coke, fizzy lemonade and all sorts of teas.

My friend Shannon brought me a big bouquet of pink tulips.

And my sister-in-law brought an even bigger bouquet of assorted flowers. I love that I've got flowers in the living room and the kitchen!

We watched Letters to Juliet {note to self: must visit Verona!}, chatted and laughed and had a lovely time. It was perfect, and just what I had hoped for. Sunday was good, too. We hung out at home most of the day.

Dylan illustrated some of his favourite scenes from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Love this one of Lucy and Susan with Aslan!

We sat on the couch, reading and watching many episodes of Dino Dan. The boys are crazy for that show.

In the afternoon, I dropped Sawyer off at a gymnastics birthday party, and Dylan & I drove through Starbucks before heading back to watch the little ones.

Sawyer was having a ball, especially on the rings. He swung back and forth for ages.

The kids had to be barefoot on the mats in the gym. Afterwards, when it was time for cake, they decided to leave their socks and shoes off. Look at those little toes!

Back at home, the boys built a fort in the bedroom, and a castle of blocks in the playroom.

Once the kids were in bed tonight, I decided I needed to get out for some fresh air in between rain showers. I took a walk around the neighbourhood.

Our house has the prettiest flowers on the block.

Yep, another daffodil photo. Just can't get enough of them!

I can't believe it's Monday again already! And the 4th of April. Wow. I've got a lot to do today to get ready for Thursday's surgery {gulp}, so I might not make it back here later today for a Much Love Monday post. Perhaps I'll swing by tomorrow to say hello on my birthday {ooh! I'm excited! I love my birthday!}, and post some photos of sleepy me opening presents before heading off to work at 7:45?! Until then, I'd love to hear all about your weekend... What did you get up to?

  21. You always know how to fill a weekend with such wonderful things. You boys are very, very lucky. Especially because there were fruit tarts involved. And Cadbury mini-eggs. I love those so much I'm trying to avoid them because I'm afraid of eating another entire bag in two sittings.
