Resolution 10/52

So last week I told you all about the 29 Days of Giving Challenge and how I was going to give it a go. Sadly, I haven't been able to fully dive into that challenge, since I've been mostly laying on the couch since then {sigh... I hate being sick!} However, I am happy to say that I did do a bit of giving and it felt great! I managed to: take part in the bloggers' day of silence and help raise a lot of money for the relief effort in Japan, donate clothes to the Canadian Diabetes Society, give money to Red Cross relief in Japan {dragged myself out to Starbucks for a green tea lemonade one afternoon, and they had a thing where you could give money right there at the till!}, bring a bouquet of flowers to a friend who'd been struggling with stuff lately, and I gave my boys my undivided attention and extra time while we built Lego and Playmobil from the comfort of our couch. Oh, and I gave myself permission to ignore the mess in the kitchen and have a nap, for several days in a row. That counts, right?

As for the week to come, all I want to do is get healthy again. So my goal is load up on fruits and vegetables.

I can't wait for the summer to be here, for our garden to be full of fresh herbs and tomatoes and peas and strawberries. Mmmmm! But it's not summer yet, not even close. So I'm going to have to make do with the produce section of the local grocery store for now. Yesterday, the boys and I made a menu and a shopping list and we headed over to the mall. We went crazy! You should have seen our shopping cart. We bought oranges, apples, asparagus, fennel, carrots, celery, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, strawberries, bananas, grapes, spinach, arugula {it's a good word, isn't it?... arugula} and a pineapple. I love pineapple. I can't wait to make salads, stirfries, smoothies...

Mmmm, I'm gonna like this goal.

  2. Still out on the couch? Oh no!

Good luck with your goal! Eating a fruit a day is one of my goals and I'm terrible about getting around to it! Either we don't have any when I think of it, I forget, or (embarrassingly) I sometimes flat out don't want to eat it.

Let me know how it goes! I could use some motivation.

  3. That all definitely counts. Even sick on the couch you still seem to have managed so much! And there's really nothing like fresh fruit to make it feel like summer. I wish I could have a lovely garden this year. Maybe when I move back to NYC, I'll luck out and have a rooftop to start a garden on.

  4. I don't think I've ever had arugula, but it is a good word!

Your shopping list is making me drool. I can't wait for summer fruits and veggies!
