Three beautiful things at the end of a very long and busy day:
1. My friend Nerine (soon to be Dylan's kindergarten teacher!) took me for a pumpkin spice latte and biscotti after school today. It was the perfect treat for a rainy start to the school year.
2. In the grocery store parking lot, a woman walked up to me just as I was about to get in the van. "I saw your pink ribbon," she said. "Are you running for the cure? I'd like to give you some money." And just like that, she handed me a $20 bill. I love that there are still people out there who are so kind and generous, and trusting.
3. Sawyer went to playschool today dressed in his yellow raincoat, Mind the Gap ball-cap and gumboots, and carrying his bright red London bus backpack. Oh, and he insisted on sunglasses, too. He was a sight to behold, and oh so proud of himself. I love that little boy so much.
4. And this one, too! (aren't they cute in their London transport hats?)
It's getting late and I'm getting sleepy, so I'm off to bed. Lots to do tomorrow on my day off! I've got Thursday's soup to prep, a stack of photocopying to do, two adorable boys to entertain (we're starting our England scrapbooks!), some grade 1 lessons to plan, and a 3-hour preschool meeting to help run. Oh, and I'd really like to write some letters to a few of you, put together a blog post of lovely London parks, and start working on my guest post for the beautiful bride-to-be Kim (she's getting married next week in a fabulous picnic wedding and then flying to Thailand to ride an elephant! how amazing is that?) Whew, anyway... I'd really better get to bed.

ReplyDeleteI'm craving anything pumpkin flavoured!! I might just have to pick up a pumpkin spice latte tomorrow (if I can ever get up in time! I'm always running so behind in the morning for work because I hit snooze one too many times! bad habit of mine. I'm sure that will all change once I have babies one day!)
That's so sweet about the total stranger who was wanting to donate for such an important cause! I'm going to attempt to run in the Race for the Cure next month with Jess and Steph and I'm really excited about being apart of such an important event! It will be my first time participating and I can't wait.

Everyone's talking about pumpkin spice lattes these days--I'm gonna have to check them out! And while I NEED my morning coffee everyday and would never choose hot chocolate over coffee, I heard a rumor that Starbucks now has a salted caramel hot chocolate, which has been making my mouth water! Also, I was so touched by that story about the woman in the parking lot! I did the 60 mile breast cancer walk in San Diego last fall and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life thus far. Amazing seeing thousands of women walking miles & miles on blistered feet in such solidarity!

I'm so happy to hear the school year is off to such a good starts and that there are truly generous trusting people left in this world. And I only wish you had a picture of Sawyer in that outfit. You're one very lucky woman. Good luck getting all the things on your to-do list done!

ReplyDeleteI used to work for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and worked on 3 Runs. To this date, it is one of those events that will forever stick out in my mind as one where people just seem to come together and share in love. There are so many hugs and high fives and so much PINK!
