You've got mail

Three of the loveliest little words ever, non? (not to mention one of my all-time favourite movies...) Especially when the mail is a parcel containing Christmas decorations! I was so excited when I got home from work last night to discover my ornament swap parcel had arrived... It required a lot of will power to get the fire going and dinner made before sitting down with this little box of fun (and my camera, of course!)

Isn't it pretty? It came all the way from Wichita Falls, Texas! My address was on the front, and on the back were these words: "Christmas waves a magic wand over this world and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. ~ Norman Vincent Peale". I couldn't agree more!

Can you guess who it was from? The lovely Micaela, who organized the swap in the first place! She's good at keeping a secret, that one. We've corresponded a few times and she never once let it slip that I was her partner.

There were three little packages to open inside the box. They were wrapped up like candy canes, in pretty red and white paper. I had to hold the boys back so I could get a photo before they ripped into the paper!
Dylan could barely contain himself. As soon as I snapped this one, he was straight into the paper. Good thing the decorations inside weren't too delicate!

I love this pretty, bookish postcard. (Seems Micaela knows a bit about me already, from reading my blog...) I think I'll keep it out all year. The message she wrote on the back about her favourite Christmas memory made me cry. Some families have to go through such a lot to be together during the holidays...

And here they are! My sweet little tree decorations. I'm crazy about the vintage feel of these tiny fabric birdcages. There was one more ornament in the package, which I absolutely love. I think I'll save a photo of that one for tree-trimming day (this weekend!)

**********
Thank you, Micaela, for the wonderful Christmas parcel and for organizing such a fun swap. Can't wait to hang my pretty new ornaments on the tree!
