1. At work today, the power kept cutting out. It would go out for 10 minutes, come back on, and then go out again. I must have re-started my computer 4 times in half an hour! Super annoying. But the thing about it I appreciated? The sound of silence. It was so peaceful and quiet without the buzz of the monitors and the sound of the fan blowing (still with the cold air, don't get me started on that!) I also discovered that the library has some fantastic emergency lighting that gives it a nice warm glow.
2. I haven't been to the gym much in the past two weeks. My maybe-broken toe has limited my evening treadmill routine. Tonight though, I decided enough was enough, and off I went at 8:30 to get some exercise. I was not at all keen to go. Quite frankly, I would have preferred to stay in and watch The Office. But I went and I'm glad. I discovered that I can jog again without my foot hurting too much. Good. I'm ready to get back on track. And now I think I'll go soak my foot in the tub...
3. The boys were WILD this evening. Crazy, screaming, shrieking, crying, and in full-on-meltdown mode. I managed to mostly stay very calm throughout and, after tucking them in and kissing and cuddling them 15 times each before saying good-night, even had a giggle when Alan started imitating them as they launched back into their screaming. All of a sudden they stopped, and I heard Dylan say to Sawyer, "Did you hear Dad screaming like us? That was pretty funny!"
So, there you have it. Power cuts, late-night trips to the gym and screaming matches. Three beautiful things! It's all about how you look at it.
