Scenes from the weekend

Lucky me. Not only do I have the loveliest best friend in the world, but I got to spend three fabulous days with her {and do it over an extra long weekend}! Em arrived Wednesday evening and we made the most of every second we had together until Saturday afternoon when I had to take her back to the ferry. We consumed too many pumpkin spice lattes to count, stayed up talking late every night, drank copious amounts of tea while staying cozy under blankets on the couch, and made our traditional fajita dinner {which we ate with the boys, and the Gipsy Kings blasting from the iPhone!} Em helped the boys practice their French, and chit-chatted away en français with Dylan, much to his delight. We went up to UVic, visited all of our old favourite places, and marvelled at how many years have gone by since we were students. We strolled all around downtown, met up with friends for lunch, and had an impromptu Gangnam Style dance party in the courtyard of the Empress Hotel {so. much. fun.} We went to Murchies for tea and didn't shed a tear {to hell with tradition!}, and to Pagliacci's for dinner like we always do. We talked about going to Paris together, and how we really must make that happen. And then we said good-bye and I sat in the parking lot at the ferry terminal bawling my eyes out. Ooooof.

We love a long arm shot, and this is a good one, don't you think?

Gangnam style!

 Tea for two

I wish we could do this every week

Speaking of tea, check out the fabulous tea tin and napkins Em brought me! Swoon.

Alan knew I was sad to be saying good-bye, so he picked this lovely little bouquet to cheer me up

I miss Em already. Thank heavens for Skype and email and Facebook, for pretty stationery and plenty of stamps {and for that iPhone I'm even more determined than ever to get now, so we can text  for free and do Facetime, too!}Three days was definitely not enough, but I'm so grateful that we had them. Next time, we'll make it longer.

How was your weekend? I hope you got to spend it with someone wonderful.
