Just what I needed

I'm home. We got here Saturday night, after 8 glorious days in the sunshine of Sorrento. It couldn't have been more perfect. It was hot and sunny and the lake was lovely. We swam every day, ate delicious food pretty much all the time, read magazines and books {I finished two whole novels!} and revelled in the great outdoors. It was exactly what I needed and I only wish it could have lasted longer. We all had a wonderful time. The boys got to play with their cousins, I got to spend oodles of time with my sister, and Alan finally got to read The Hunger Games. You can't really ask for a better vacation than that.

Forgive the photo overload, but I just can't say {and show} enough good things about this little piece of paradise...

The house, at the centre of the resort property, is called Spes Bona. It's Latin for "good hope."

My dear friend Kelly came to visit, and we had so much fun!

The gardens at Sorrento Centre are gorgeous.

Our cabana. Basic but it fit the bill perfectly.

The boys were always happy to be on their bikes.

Especially Dylan. He was on his every chance he got.

Now that we're home, we're settling back into our summertime routine. There'll be trips to the library, the park and the beach. Projects around the house to tackle. Friends to visit. Books to read. And a few summer camps for the kids. Oh, and I've got that Grade 1 classroom to set up and an Australian houseguest to get ready for! And let's not forget my 2012 manifesto... it's quite a long list. Good thing there are six weeks left of summer holidays, huh? I have a feeling they're going to fill up fast.

Hope your summer is going well. Anything exciting happening in your part of the world?

    1. You'd love it, Cassie. It was bliss!
Perhaps next summer will have to take a break from it though and head to your part of the world? This time we'll spend loads of time together, right? Right!

PS: Dylan really was a blur much of the time. He loved flying down the hill and speeding past our cabana!

Just back from the library where I picked up another stack of good books to read on the beach, in the park, in bed at night... I can't get enough to read lately!
