Not much love this Monday

photo from my tumblr archive... come see all the pretty pictures!

Hello y'all (sorry! don't know where that came from...) It's Monday morning, and believe me I've had better. My foot hurts, my head hurts, and apparently I'm coaching shot-put on my lunch hour. Blah.

My foot hurts because last night I was in our backyard and somehow I ended up stepping right down onto a nail. In my flimsy flip-flops. Needless to say, the nail went straight into my foot and I'm feeling the pain today. It hurts to walk, let alone run. Guess I'll be taking it easy and focusing on upper body stuff this week at the gym! If I can even drag my sorry butt there.

My head hurts because in addition to the throbbing foot, I also had a weepy, whiny, grumpy boy to deal with this morning. Poor Dylan has come down with a bug of some sort, and he is not a happy camper. He was sick all day yesterday, but seems better this morning. Better in that he's not being sick anymore. But his emotions are all over the place! Getting out the door was difficult, as he clung to me and begged me not to go (seriously? I'm no more fun that Daddy... and Daddy often hands out candies when Mum's not looking! I'm sure everyone's happy at home now, but at 8 a.m. things were so. not. fun.)

And yeah, shot-put. What do I know about shot-put? Nothing. But I know I'm supposed to be doing it at lunch. At lunch I was hoping to crash on the staff room couch. Sigh.

Sorry. I'm in a bit of a mood. Can you tell?! I'll definitely have to come back later with a 3BT to perk myself up. Until then, any words of wisdom you'd care to impart? A funny story to snap me out of it and take my focus off the hole in my foot? I'd love to hear them. And look! I'll share my imaginary cupcakes with you... How can you resist?

  4. Bit late in the day, oops thats early here as after midnight now, to cheer you up, so hope the day improved a long with your foot.
But if it didn't here's a little tale to make you smile.
My grandson is just 3 years old and on a Monday nanny and grandad look after him. We took him to the park last Monday and as time was getting on we went into the cafe there for his lunch. On the shelf near our table was a sign saying Thank you. He did all the phonetic sounds of the letters and then asked grandad what it spelled. 'Thank you' said grandad to which Alfie replied 'what's that in spanish'!!! when grandad had picked himself up from the floor he just collapsed laughing. not that Alfie gets to watch too much television, but obviously 'go Diego go' is having a profound effect. Better brush up on our languages or we're going to be left way behind.
Glad you popped by my blog,
have a better day tomorrow, or is that today!
    Regards Jenny

  5. Oh Erin it doesnt sound like a good day, your poor foot!

Here is a joke for you:

Why did the scarecrow win an award?
He was "outstanding" in his field!

    Hope things start looking up.

  7. Oh NO! A day like that one is no fun at all. I hope it all worked out in the end, and that everyone's starting to feel a bit better (especially you!)

I have no funny stories, but I do find that when I have a ridiculous injury like a hole in my foot (which happens more than it really should, since I'm so clumsy), the best way to feel better about it is to joke about it- "oh dear, I'd really like to go for that run, but I can't, due to the GIANT HOLE in my foot." Laughing and jokingly whining always helps ease the pain of the injury, promise!

  8. sounds like a crazy, no fun Monday! and your foot injury sounds terrible! I wonder if you should go to the doctor... a rusty nail could mean bad things for your foot!

I hope your day got better... and maybe you even found a cupcake or two to console yourself in? :)

p.s. thanks for your sweet comment on my "moving" post. It really does mean a lot! and as for your question, well, I'll address that part of it soon... sorry to leave you with a cliffhanger!
