Two things on Tuesday

It's Tuesday, and time for another round of "two things I love around my home." I picked two things from our bedroom, and took these photos last night right before I crawled into bed {so please forgive the rather grainy quality}. Daylight savings is killing me, by the way!

My first thing is actually two! First there's my old, old, old hardcover copy of the classic novel Daddy Long-Legs. Have you read it? I adore this book. Written in letters {a writing device that I love}, it tells the story of orphan Judy and the benefactor, "Mr Smith," affectionately called "Daddy Long-Legs" who sends her off to college. It's a fabulous story, funny and charming and terribly romantic. I love this quote from the book: "I think the most necessary quality for any person to have is imagination. It makes people able to put themselves in other people's places. It makes them kind and sympathetic and understanding. It ought to be cultivated in children." Isn't that fabulous? Oh, and speaking of imagination, that little chalkboard sitting on top of the the book is a souvenir from Green Gables, on Prince Edward Island. It's one of the prettiest places in Canada and home to my beloved Anne.

I love this lamp on my bedside table, with its pretty paper shade, and delicate flowers and dots cut out to let the light glow through. My mom got this for me one Christmas many years ago. I like to read by its light each night before I fall asleep.

Head over to BacWoods Fern to link up and join in the fun. I look forward to checking out your two things later today! Hope you're having a terrific Tuesday thus far...

  2. I have never heard of that book, I will have to look it up. I let out a little smile when I saw it - I kind of had a feeling you had some excellent old, old books!

Love that lamp too, it is the one thing I always say I need to get for my side of the bed, but never get round too.

Just like you said to me the other week I do like the grainy/old film quality to the photos though - makes them all vintage.

    xx
