A blog birthday giveaway!

fancy cake via here

It's my blog's birthday today! Yep, Pughs' News is turning 4! Can you believe it? I can't. I remember the day I wrote my first post, April 16th, 2007. Pughs' News has come a long way in the past four years, going from a private blog with 5 or 6 readers, to a public one {starting in 2009} with 80+ official followers, and at least 100 hits a day. I'm pretty proud of that! I love my little corner of the internet and all the friends I've made through it {remember last year's virtual party?}.

I think an occasion like this calls for a giveaway! I'm going to package up a few of my favourite things and send them off to one lucky winner. Books, tea, stationery, et des choses comme ca {you know what I like}, and I'm itching to do some shopping on Etsy, too! I'm not exactly sure what the parcel will contain, because I want to personalize it to the winner. But believe me when I tell you friends, it's going to be awesome!
To enter, here's what you need to do:

1. Become a follower of Pughs' News, if you aren't one already. It's as simple as clicking that button over there -->

2. Leave me a comment telling me a little bit about you- who you are, where you live, and maybe one of your favourite things. I want to get to know my readers better!

3. For an extra entry or two, you can blog or tweet {or both} about the giveaway, and then leave a separate comment for each with a link to your post.

I know it's Saturday today and not everyone goes online on the weekend. You might not even see this until Monday morning! So I'll leave the giveaway open until this coming Thursday, April 21st at 4pm and will draw a name that night. I'll announce the winner next Friday the 22nd in my Flowers for your Friday post. Easy peasy!

Thanks for reading Pughs' News, for coming here and being a part of my little blog. I adore you.

Now, what are you waiting for? Get entering!

  1. Happy blogiversary, Erin! I believe it's been two-ish years that I've known you and I've loved every day of it! :)

You're such a sunshiney presence in our world. May there be many more years of it to come! :)

  2. P.S. I meant to say that I'm a follower. But as my second entry....

I am Bethany from Wisconsin. One of my favorite things has to be a comfy couch with gorgeous natural light, just waiting to be enjoyed. Oh, and reading blogs. :)

  3. If you hadn't noticed I'm a follower of your wonderful blog:)
    Happy anniversary.

  4. Ohh and a few of my favourite things are relaxing on the couch or soon in the sun with a cup of coffee and a great book (or great blogs). And of course my baby boy, I can spent hours just looking at him:)

  5. oooo exciting! YOu were one of the first followers of my blog :)

  6. Four? Erin, that's fantastic! Happy Blog Anniversary! You know lots about me already, so I'll give you two random facts. I almost ended up at a theological seminary because I liked the idea of being a spiritual counselor. I even got in, but I thought my lack of religious focus could be a problem. I also wanted to be an Egyptologist when I first graduated NYU, but I was worried my fair skin would burn in the hot North African sun. Hope you're having a lovely Saturday!

  7. Congratulations on reaching four years! I just realized the other day that I hit 2 years but it was already more than a week after the official anniversary (April 2). Four years is a long time and I think it's amazing to commit to blogging for that long. Your kids will be able to see this one day and understand more about you and that's precious!

And.... I'm a follower. :) Something about me? I love reading and photography. For something a little deeper, I'm still not sure about what I want to do in life. If it weren't for my Masters degree year coming up I'd be out in the real world in less than four weeks..... The only "teaching experience" I've had was one practicum, which was great, but I don't know if I want to teach or not. So there's something a little deeper about your reader.

(Ironically my word verification word is "reade". Close enough to read that I find it funny.)

  8. Happy bloggy birthday!
Just started 'following' you ... I can never get too much Erin, I guess! :)

Me: Starbucks snob. Love their mugs for sale. Lifetime favorite movie, Anne of Green Gables. I couldn't even comment on your post about Gilbert (crushes) as he's just too special to me, ha. My email name reflects another dear and favorite L.M.M. novel. Love reading. I feel whole when I read. My list of Etsy favorites is simply way, way too long - but oh my, that would be my idea of a perfect shopping spree! I love to bake, to the detriment of my waistline, and could never fully diet and eliminate cupcakes and such like from my life. Travesty! (Have you had the chocolate/chocolate cake at Pure Vanilla Bakery in Cad Bay?? Back in the day, those were divine ...) Sam gave me my first kiss at Holland Point right on Dallas Road and then he proposed there 6 years later. One day I'm planning to do a family photoshoot there, at our spot.

And, and, and .... Could go on and on but will leave it for now .... have a splendid 4-years-later-day!

  9. (: Oh, happy day, EP! Keep up the beautiful blog-work (and play).

Four random facts about me: 1. I'm left-handed, as is my hubby, Robin (and several Friends and Relations in both families). 2. Unlike my hubby, I like Very Small Planes: flying's my favourite mode of transport. (John Gillespie Magee's "High Flight" is a poem we both love.) 3. My favourite wild animal is the hippopotamus (our company name in hippo communications. inc.) and 4. I simply adore writing letters. In 2007 my former co-author and I published "The Hippo and the Unicorn: A Rainbow of Words"--yes, a whole book of letters (originally handwritten and mailed to each other over the course of a few years).

That's all for now. Have a wonderful week. Enjoy the giveaway, friends-of-Erin! :)

  11. Happy blogiversary Erin! The giveaway sounds very exciting! Yours is one of the very first blogs I followed when I started blogging last year.

Hmm about me... single mother of 3 living in the best city in the world... loves red wine & chocolate, great conversation, candlelight, my children & watching them grow, peace, traveling, and men (not necessarily in that order).

I will blog & tweet about your giveaway and get back to you with the links :)

  12. I'm new to your blog but with my return to snail mail, I"ve found some wonderful blogs on the net. My own blog is in its 12th year (and its mirror blog on Blogger in its 5th year, I think). Both have lots of followers, but not nearly as many commenters. Maybe I should start giving away stuff!

I'm a retired grandmother of 1, living with husband of 45+ years and 3 dogs. Writing is my life and it's fun to be doing it again in envelopes instead of just e-mail.

When I'm not reading blogs and sending stuff, I review plays for the local newspaper. And I NEVER win stuff, so I won't feel bad if I don't this time either!

  13. Happy blogiversary, sweet Erin! I feel thankful that blogging has introduced me to people like you. It's one of the things I love most about it. I think you know a lot about me already, but I just wanted to tell you how much I love visiting your space here, and the relationship we've created in the brief time we've been acquainted (relative to the four years you've been blogging!). Here's to many many more.

  16. Happy 4th Blogiversary!

I discovered your blog from two lovely friends (Sheba @ Perpetual Bounce and Faiza @ It's Gonna Be A Lovely Day) and recently became a follower. I've really enjoyed reading your posts over the last few weeks :)

I live in Ontario, Canada and you can find me over at http://keeponsmyelin.blogspot.com/

Hmm, I enjoy a lot of things -- wine, coffee/tea, chocolate covered jujubes, browsing HomeSense and Chapters and gardening to name a few! I also love making people happy!

Ok, that was more than one but they all add an extra smile to my day!

    Enjoy your weekend!

something about me is that my favorite things change on a weekly basis. but this week i'm totally obsessed with having been invited to be a backup singer for an amazing musician. music & singing are a pretty constant Favorite in my life, so this creative opportunity is so thrilling.

  29. Four whole years!? Back then, I didn't even know what blogging was. I'm so glad I'm a part of this world, because that means I have places like yours to bring some sunshine to my day!

I'm Amanda from Wisconsin and am a new wife and college student. One of my favorite places to be is swinging in the hammock in my parent's backyard...love looking up at those green trees!

  30. Happy Bloggingversary, Erin! It's a good feeling that improves with blog age. Wondering how you manage with little ones. Kudos!

My daughter's name is Erin. :D Wow.

I have a birthday coming up this month as well. I had my first birthday party when I was 22. My co-workers surprised me. If there were b'day parties as a child, I don't remember them.

So, I'll be another year better and wiser on April 25th. Imagine that! Will you toss my name into the give-away lottery? :)

    Congratulations!

  44. Confession: I hesitated about entering your giveaway because I already get to be your dearest friend. Surely that should be enough, non? I've been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of countless letters, postcards & parcels from you over the years. I really shouldn't be greedy...

But at the same time, I couldn't very well NOT congratulate you on your four years of blogging, could I? Of course I'm a follower... & here I am commenting... so I guess I've officially entered the giveaway. Zut! How did that happen??! ;-)

    XOXO!
